  11. To Install and run E144 or E720:
  12. Uncompress the VEXD.ZIP file using PKUNZIP, then type E144 to run
  13. for 1.44MB diskettes or E720 for 720KB diskettes.

  16. Brief Description:
  17. E144 formats your 1.44MB diskettes so that you gain an additional 52.5KB
  18. storage space. Turning your 1.44MB into a 1.51MB disk. E720 turns your
  19. 720KB diskette into a 750KB diskette. It does this in a way so that you
  20. do not lose the ability to use DOS commands and utilities with these disks.
  21. The one major exception is the DOS DISKCOPY command, which will not work
  22. properly on these diskettes. Our DOS and Windows DF diskette imager
  23. software will support these new formats shortly.

  26. Note:
  27. The VitCom Intl Extended Diskette Format (tm) has been tested on
  28. 386 and 486 machines with BIOS dates of 1990 and later. It is
  29. possible that this format may not be compatible with prior BIOS
  30. versions.

  32. Continued research is being conducted by VitCom Intl Corp to extend
  33. 1.44MB diskette storage to 1.7MB and 720KB storage to 790KB. From
  34. our research to date, these are goals that can be realized (if not
  35. exceeded) in the near future.
